Diabetes Mellitus - The Starving Cell

The physiological mechanisms behind a hyperglycemic diabetic coma.
Diabetes Mellitus rates are on the rise. Every 5 minutes 1 Australian is diagnosed with
diabetes, making it the fastest growing chronic condition in Australia and developed countries.

In Diabetes Mellitus all the cells are surrounded by an abundance of glucose but the inability of the cells to access this fuel source paradoxically leads them to a state of starvation and the eventual unconsciousness of the patient.

Presenter: Dr Isabel Arnaiz (visit p21.com.au/about-us/director/)

Cost: $25 online, $30 on the night.
